Three Years of Abomi Nation

Happy birthday to me! Three years ago, I hit launch on my first commercial game, Abomi Nation. If you're reading this, I suspect you've heard of it.

I've written in the past about how launch day was actually one of the most stressful times of my life. Not in a fun or exciting way, either. It nearly broke me. For a long time, I couldn't even look at Abomi Nation without feeling a great sense of shame and dread. All I could see were improvements that I didn't have time for, or animations that I could do better now. It was a needlessly negative experience.

This year, I'm happy to report, my perception of Abomi Nation has really turned around. Some time away from the project has really helped reset my perspective, and I've been able to see everything that I did manage to accomplish as opposed to smaller gripes that I'd get hung up on. I owe this shift in attitude to the wonderful members of my Discord, as well as any fans that have taken the time to write something on Steam or social media. This year has been a very validating year for my relationship Abomi Nation, and though I may be late to the party, I'm happy to say that I'm proud of my work on it.

I've since been hard at work every day preparing my next project. I've learned so much from working on Abomi Nation, and it's great to be able to work in the right headspace from the beginning this time. I'm really excited to unveil it to you all, and I hope Abomi Nation fans are excited to check it out. I hope to reveal more info about it this year. Stay tuned. News should come soon.

Thanks, everybody, for keeping up with me! I can't wait to start this next chapter for Orange Pylon Games.

See you later this year,

Carl
